Oxnard Beaches
Oxnard Beaches are somewhat of a hidden secret within the region. Deep, white sand, uncrowded beaches, great surf and beautiful homes are some of the reasons why the Oxnard beach communities are a great place to live. For many years these have been some of the most affordable beach homes in Southern California.
There are three main beach communities in Oxnard.
Silver Strand Beach, named after the silver screen, is the southernmost beach in Oxnard, hugged by a colorful neighborhood of stunning homes. It’s known for white sandy beautiful beaches, and great surf. It borders the Navy base on one side. Many of these homes are set on the sand, or directly adjacent to the sand.
Hollywood Beach is another beach community which is North of Silverstand. It borders the harbor on one side, making many restaurants and shops walkable from the homes in this area. Many of these homes are set on the sand, or directly adjacent to the sand. There are also many condo offerings in this area.
Once dubbed “Hollywood by the Sea,” the stretch of coastline that would make up Hollywood Beach and Silver Strand Beach first came into the spotlight in the 1920s as a faux Arabian desert in the 1921 blockbuster, The Sheik. A few years later, the land was developed into beachfront property, with streets named after famous Hollywood thoroughfares: Sunset Drive, La Brea Street, Laurel Court and more. The community also catered to golden- era entertainers, with several A-list stars such as Greta Garbo, Clark Gable and Rudolph Valentino owning vacation homes here. In the 1960s, the Channel Islands Harbor was constructed, splitting Hollywood by the Sea into two separate beachfront communities.
Oxnard Shores in the North-most of the three, and is also very nice. White sandy beaches, beautiful homes and easy access to Harbor Blvd all make this area a wonderful place to live. Many of the homes are set along an alley on one side, and pedestrian walkway on the other side of the property, which gives the homes a unique set up and flow.
